After reviewing 2016 FBI crime report statistics and population data, SafeWise, a safety and security system reviewer company, recently identified Glasgow as the fourth safest city in Montana. In the report, Glasgow, with a population of 3,442 at the time of the study, experienced 1.74 violent crimes while 6.68 property crimes occurred per 1,000 people. Joe Hall, 27, of Kila, Mont., was arrested for felony burglary and theft in a joint effort by the Valley County Sheriff’s Office and the Glasgow Police Department. The arrest took place on Jan. 14 in the Shopko parking lot. At press time, Hall remains in custody at the Valley County Detention Center. The Glasgow Police Department is investigating a combined theft and act of vandalism reported Dec. 16 at Scottie Carwash on Highway 2 in Glasgow. According to the report, the incident occurred sometime between Dec. 15 and 16. As part of the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown, law enforcement agencies across Montana will deploy extra patrols for the specific purpose of deterring and detecting impaired drivers during the holiday season.
