The Nemont Manor Foundation presented $50,000 in grants on June 11 to 10 organizations that benefit the Valley County community. The grants were awarded from the Valley County Masonic Endowment Fund, which was established at the Montana Community Foundation in 2022. Daryl Oberquell, age 74, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 30, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. There is no public memorial service planned, as this is not what he wanted. As adventurous as he was, he was also very private. The family will spread his ashes in the mountains, per his wishes. Daryl was born in Denver, Colo., in 1950. On the evening of Monday, June 10, 2024, Peggy passed away peacefully at Valley View Home, Glasgow, Mont., after a four year battle with COPD. Peggy was 70 years old. The first of four Alive @ Five events is scheduled for Wednesday, June 19 by the Nemont offices. At this year’s events will be a fire truck pull competition instead of the Hot Dog eating competition. Milk River Inc. has put together a four-part series of fire truck pulls to crown a champion team. Teams will be comprised of eight team members and one Milk River Stars athlete. It lasted a few hours, starting first thing in the morning for the last day of school. Six Valley County high school graduates have received 2024 Jeff Jurgens Memorial Scholarships to enable their studies at colleges, universities, and trade schools.
