'S' words are in season at 1 Scottie Pride Drive. Spring. Scotties. Sports. Startup. The GHS track and field, softball and golf teams opened their spring sports practices Monday. The golfers teed off at 3:45 p.m. at El Cor Del Lanes. Softball players reported at 6 at GHS. And the tracksters, under first-year head coach Tim Phillips, gathered at 3:45, hit the track for some drills and took to Scottie Pride Drive to run the hills. • Scotties Raise The Bar

    Quinn Robinson, The Courier|May 21, 2014

Glasgow Track and Field blew past the competition in the 2B District track meet held at Glasgow last weekend as the Scotties won both the boys and girls titles. "I can't say enough about how hard these kids have worked the entire season," said Glasgow head coach John Labonty. "We had a number of kids advance to Divisionals and if we can get the same performance from them there, we'll have a lot of them going on to State." The Scottie girls took first place with a score of 237. Second place Malta...

  • Scotties Fine Tuning

    Quinn Robinson, The Courier|May 14, 2014

Weather once again played the villain as the scheduled track and field meet in Miles City was rained out. That forced the hand of the Glasgow coaches to organize an impromptu meet on Monday to get their athletes one last warm up before the District 2B meet which will be held this Saturday at Glasgow High School. "This is a meet where we're still trying to see some things from our athletes," said Glasgow head coach John Labonty. "It's kind of a thrown together type of meet." There are quite a...

  • Competing Against The Best

    Quinn Robinson, The Courier|May 7, 2014

It's the meet everyone has been gearing up for. The Northeastern Top 10 Meet was held in Glasgow on Tuesday that showcased the best track and field athletes in the area. The Scotties themselves had plenty of representation in the meet and as has come expected with Glasgow track and field, fans of the team didn't leave disappointed. In the girls track events, Megan Dailey took third place in the 100-meter race with a time of 13.13. Some people might think that number is unlucky, but for Dailey it...

  • Districts Next For Track

    J. Levi Burnfin, Courier Sports|May 8, 2013

With the track postseason fast approaching, Scottie coach John LaBonty wants his athletes to take a break. “Right now, we need to rest a little bit,” he said. “We’re a little beat up.” The Scotties’ season started slowly with cancellations and relocated/rescheduled meets constantly shifting their schedule. Recently, however, it’s been a steady stream of competition, including three meets in eight days, starting in Glendive on April 26-27 through the Top Ten on May 1 and then Wolf Point on Satu...
