1 Years Ago Wednesday, July 23, 2014 Lots of cats and dogs were brought to the Valley Event Center on Friday and Saturday last week. They were received by several volunteers who helped prep animals for a short surgery, and comfort them after the work was done. Veterinarian Dr. Jeff Young helped coordinate a crew that included several veterans in training, track and cross country kids from Denver, Colo., and local volunteers to ensure that the process went smoothly. Darleen Effie (Isakson) Nordhagen of Glasgow, Mont., formerly of Opheim and Billings, Mont., age 84, passed away on June 24, 2024, at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow. A memorial/celebration of Darleen's life has been set for Tuesday, July 23, at 11 a.m., at Opheim Community Church in Opheim. 1 Years Ago Wednesday, July 16, 2014 Glasgow's Candy Cane Park is getting a whole new look that will be sweet when it's completed. The park that had gravel and not much for shade will be sporting grass and trees by late summer. The city has set aside and budgeted for the park over the last two years, and last week the project got started. During the regular City Council meeting at the beginning of June, the Glasgow City Council unanimously voted to build a new skatepark in Hoyt Park, which is the park where the new swimming pool is currently under construction at and next to Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital.
