The Valley County Commissioners held their first of many community meetings on Sept. 27, at the Valley County Courtroom for Glasgow residents and then traveled to Frazer and Lustre on Sept. 30, and then to Hinsdale on Oct. 1. The November Election is rapidly approaching, and absentee ballots are set to be mailed out Oct. 11, in Montana. As a result of the federal holiday, Indigenous Peoples Day, on Oct. 14, absentee ballots are expected to arrive to mailboxes later that week. In Valley County, there are currently 5,007 registered voters. This number is down compared to the last Presidential Election in 2020 when Valley County had 5,136 registered voters. Glasgow Flower and Gift, a beloved business in downtown Glasgow, recently upgraded its storefront with a new, modern sign. This project was made possible through the support of Two Rivers Economic Growth's Storefront Beautification Grant Program and the Downtown Signage Grant Program, sponsored by Prairie House Gardens. As a result of the community's support in purchasing reverse raffle tickets during the Alive at Five season as well as assistance from Markle's Incorporated and the City of Glasgow, the Glasgow Downtown Association (GDA) is proud to add six new trash cans throughout 2nd Ave. S. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Hunter Education online field days have been set for northeast Montana. These will likely be the last online field days, and possibly courses, offered for hunter education this season in northeast Montana. Eligible students that were not able to get into a classroom course this year may want to choose this option. Glasgow Learn to Skate is preparing for its 21st season. Skating instruction is available for preschool through adults using a curriculum endorsed by US Figure Skating and USA Hockey. Each class is 40 minutes long which includes a lesson and practice time. Cost is $50 per six-week session for kindergarten through adult lessons and $30 for preschoolers. This summer, Zora Holt had the opportunity to attend Montana's 4-H Congress at MSU in Bozeman.
