  • Glasgow's Animal Planet In Sight

    Bonnie Davidson, The Courier|Jul 9, 2014

It's been years of planning, discussion and sweat to get a dream to come to reality. Skip Erickson has had a vision of a wildlife exhibit that would not only show some of his prized hunting trophies, but help teach and educate children and the public on habitats, animals and conservation. While the Children's Museum of Northeast Montana has helped house 50 kids in June for two art camps, two science camps and a backyard explorer camp, work has continued on the wildlife exhibit that will be a... Full story

Her years of service followed working nearly a decade with the Glasgow City-County Library. She began working for Valley County in 1990, just before the county fair. They'll show up at the Valley Event Center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one main mission in mind, to spay or neuter cats and dogs that wouldn't normally get a vet visit. Heads will be turning towards Billings on July 14-15 as discussion on a bison conservation and management plan for Montana take place. The meeting is open to the public and will be at the Big Horn Resort starting at 10 a.m. and ending at...

  • MilK River Days In Hinsdale, USA

    Virgil Vaupel, Thanks For Listening|Jul 9, 2014

I always look forward to the Fourth of July festivities in Hinsdale. It's a day that can be enjoyed by young and old alike. The parade is one of the better small town parades one can find anywhere, and it had more than 50 entries this year. It's sometime a little disappointing when there is a lack of horses in any Western parade, but Tom and Joy See always take care of that when they bring their team of Fjord horses and stylish carriage to town. The Hinsdale FFA won the grand prize for all... Full story

  • The Choices We Make

    Sandy Laumeyer, Just A Thought|Jul 9, 2014

Like everyone else, I constantly have choices to make. Some choices are easy because the right and wrong are clear. But some are shadowed in doubt. There are choices that can be made in an instant and then there are others that take hours or days or weeks. Make the right choice and the results are awesome. Make the wrong choice and the consequences have the potential to be major. The right choice can lead me to a better life and bring joy to more people than I know, but most definitely to the ones I love the most. A wrong choice will bring hear...

    Bonnie Davidson, Bonnie & Box Of Chocolates|Jul 9, 2014

You've probably heard someone complain about the government in your lifetime. If you're reading this paper, it also probably means you try to pay at least some attention to what's going on around you. What you might not know, is that you, yes you, the person reading this column, has the power to make a difference and make a change. People have the power. When the nation was in it's early turmoil, much of the complaints of the British government were spread through pamphlets and newsletters. It was the power of opinion and the power of the...

The dream started in the fifth grade. That's when Tuff Harris began playing football, and that's when he knew that he would play in the NFL. At the time, he told his friends on the playground of his lofty goal. A goal that would be challenging for anyone to accomplish, and even more so for a kid who lived on the Crow Indian Reservation near Lodge Grass, Montana. The dream almost ended before it even began for Tuff. Born on January 23, 1983, Chester David Harris almost didn't make it out of... Full story

It was all thrills, spills and chills at the 35th annual Milk River Cowboys Association Rodeo held last Thursday in Hinsdale. It was also perfect weather with no threat of rain. We had a southwesterly breeze blowing which blew the bugs back to Saco where they belong but the announcers, Myron Malnaa and Chris Christensen along with timers Tanya Funk and Jan Marshal got a tad-bit choked-up by the dust created in the arena. There was a near record crowd in attendance but the competitors in a...

After losing their first game against Laurel last week, the Reds have strung together another winning streak that reached eight games after a doubleheader victory over Lewiston Tuesday night in Glasgow. The Reds won the first game 11-0 and followed that up with a 21-5 beating. “Every inning we were putting up runs,” said Reds head coach Jack Spr...
