  • White Chooses Children's Museum for Eagle Scout Project

    Gwendolyne Honrud, The Courier|Feb 26, 2020

The Children's Museum of Northeast Montana's website says, "Our Children's Museum was created by community members in 2005." What it does not mention is that the museum continues to grow and thrive with more contributions from the community. Take for example the recent project undertaken by Tanner White. The young man was looking for a project to earn his Eagle Scout badge in the Boy Scouts. He reached out to Stacey Fast, executive director of the Children's Museum, to see if the organization ha...

  • Trump Trade Winning Streak a Huge Boost for Montana Ag

    Feb 26, 2020

Dear Editor, America is on a trade winning streak. Over the past five months, President Trump closed the deal on major trade agreements with our four largest trading partners – Canada, Mexico, Japan and China. These four countries alone make up half of America's total trade, at nearly $2 trillion. Since last fall, I've had the privilege of standing with President Trump at the White House on three separate occasions to celebrate these historic trade victories. Through my membership on the U.S. S...

  • Ice Skating Of The Past

    Gwen Cornwell, Remember When|Feb 26, 2020

I am sure that I have remembered ice skating of the past before but---as many of you know several creeks in our area have run big, resulting in some massive skating ponds. I will admit that skating on these outdoor “rinks” does present challenges. I remember the days of taking the grain shovel with you when you desired to do a little skating as the ice needed to be cleared first, but you could skate while making a path with the shovel. If you were lucky and the wind had already removed the snow you might be able to skate a good mile before tur...

    For the Courier|Feb 26, 2020

With spring just around the corner, the end of winter is finally in sight. But with spring comes more daylight and warmer temperatures and that means ice conditions will begin to deteriorate. This time of year, anglers should be extra cautious on the ice. Starting in 2020, a new addition to the FWP fishing regulations for the Eastern District states that: The owner of an ice fishing shelter shall remove it from the ice before it becomes irretrievable at the end of the season, or by March 1. Shelters may remain on the ice after March 1 but must... Full story

  • Starting To Hate Mother Nature

    Mary Honrud, For the Courier|Feb 26, 2020

It seems as though on Monday mornings (the time I take to write this column since it is due by noon, after all) Mother Nature decides to frown on us and deliver another helping of unwanted snow. It’s almost enough to make me want to discontinue writing a column, just to see if I’m the cause. Almost. But then I think of those of you who approach me when I’m in town to tell me you enjoy my scribblings. I do so like hearing those comments. Who wouldn’t? So here I am again. The extent of my gardening this week was to water my houseplants. And to...

That would not be the outcome the Scotties received though, and Malta would arise victorious by six...
