The Glasgow Downtown Association (GDA) hosted their sixth annual Polar Putt Putt on Jan. 18, where a total of 42 teams made their way through 14 downtown businesses to play a round of mini golf on courses designed and built by the participating businesses. Both the Glasgow and Frazer Speech and Drama team competed in the Eastern B/C Divisional meet at Froid on Jan. 25. Both teams have had a successful season so far, and they kept up that momentum through the Divisional meet. On Jan. 15, up to $6,000,000 in tax credits were available statewide for just over an hour through the Innovative Educational Program. Within the parameters of the program, for every $1 donation to a school of a donor’s choice, donors received a $1 credit on their 2025 state tax bill. As schools entered donations into the program that morning, the statewide funding disappeared quickly. The Valley County Commissioners met for their weekly discussion and decision meeting on Jan. 22. Two action items were discussed and approved by the commissioners. The commissioners approved the purchase of an Unimacs industrial washer for the Long Run Fire Department at a cost of $17,890. On Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024, just three days following his 94th birthday, Les Kieth Kinzell passed away in Palmdale, Calif., succumbing to the cruel effects of dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease. Les was born Oct. 17, 1930, to Leslie and Pearl Kinzell in Minot, N.D. At the age of six months, he moved with his parents to Glasgow, Mont., where he would spend his formative years.
