We are thankful for several nice rains to help the crops. One week we had 3" of rain. Beacon Bible Camp Clean up day was June 1. The Senior High Camp (incoming grades ninth through 12th graders) is being held June 9-14. Graduation was held at Lustre High School on Sunday, May 19, at 3 p.m. The processional was played by Mrs. Meridith Reddig and Pastor Justin Byers opened in prayer. The class verse was Psalms 145:13 "For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations." Honor Attendants were Mason Hilkemann and Abby Olfert. The Lustre Grade School held its graduation on Wednesday, May 22, with the largest class in years of 14 students. John Dubois welcomed the large crowd and expressed gratitude for watching these students grow from fourth through eighth graders, these four years being the best in his life. The Lustre Grade School held its spring concert on May 9, at 1 p.m. The program began with a piece by the teachers, joined consecutively by the classes scattered around the auditorium. It was energetic! The bands and choirs were under the excellent leadership of Mr. Dan Marasco. The young but good fifth-sixth grade band played "Sousa Spectacular," "March of the Royal Guard" with solos on clarinet by Hannah Pancratz and alto sax by Justin Schiller. Flowers lined the hallway toward an arch where dorm students, dressed in black and white, waited to escort diners to their pleasantly decorated tables on Sunday, April 28, at 12:30 p.m. It was the Dorm Activity fundraiser and they presented a beautiful dinner, cooked by Tori Bell. The Music Department of the LCHS, under the direction of Mr. Dan Marasco, gave a well-put-together concert at the EMB church May 1. Before opening in prayer, he reminded those attending that "the purpose of playing music and having a music program is to give glory to the Lord." The concert was excellent. The Spring Concert for LCHS is scheduled for May 1 at the Lustre EMB Church, 7 p.m. It includes music from the grades five through eight of the Lustre Grade School, all under the direction of Dan Marasco. LCHS students senior Ifeanyichuwu Aniobi, juniors Mason Hilkemann and Rachel Pew, sophomore Emeka Aniobi and freshman Prestyn Klatt attended the Academic Olympics on March 20 at Glasgow, accompanied by Debbie Catel. The 2024 Schmeckfest was held March 22, at the LCHS gymnasium on a 60 degree day. The walls were lined with displays of buffalo, LGS school kids’ beautiful art, quilts in honor of McKenna Bell, a student who completed her chemo treatments, and LCHS Basketball team pictures with their trophies and team ball. It is always wonderful to see the family heritage quilts brought to show, and new ones made for the occasion. The LCHS boys’ team were victorious over Harlowtown-Ryegate March 9 in the Consolation round of the State Tournament, winning by a score of 53-43. They placed third. The Valley County Spelling Bee was held Feb. 21, at the Lustre Grade School gymnasium with 24 students participating from the Frazer, Hinsdale, Lustre, Nashua and Opheim schools. On Feb. 10 Gary and Roxann Funk were in Great Falls as Gary’s dad, David Funk was inducted into the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame along with 23 others from throughout Montana. The event took place at the Heritage Inn. Along with those from Montana, extended family came to the event from Tennessee, Minnesota, South Dakota, California and Washington. The LCHS girls basketball team defeated Frazer 68-30 in Wednesday's District 3C tournament game, and lost to North Country on Thursday at 3 p.m. They were victorious against Dodson 61-19 on Friday afternoon, qualifying them to play against Circle in Saturday's consolation game. Dense fog covered our region until Wednesday with rain last Sunday and 26 degree temps making ice on the gravel. Warmer temperatures and clearing skies came Wednesday and Thursday. The LCHS Foundation 100 Club Annual Heritage Dinner was held Monday, Oct. 24, at the Lustre Christian High School (LCHS) Cafeteria.
