During the Awards Ceremony for the 2014 Class B-C State Speech, Drama & Debate Meet in the Glasgow High School gymnasium, Bridger Sanders was crowned the State Pantomime Champion. The Glasgow High School Speech & Drama Team competed at the Eastern Class B-C Divisional Meet in Shepherd on Saturday. The Scotties came home with second place trophy in Drama and third place trophy in Speech. The Glasgow High School Speech & Drama team competed at the Huntley Project Invitational Meet on Saturday. There were 26 schools competing at this meet with over 350 students participating. Coach John LaBonty said, “A meet this size is a good tune-up for Divisionals and State. We were real proud of how our kids did.” The highlight of the meet was Glasgow’s two pantomime competitors. Glasgow High School is hosting the Montana State Class B-C Forensic Meet on Jan. 31- Feb. 1. There are 52 schools that participate in Speech, Drama and Debate; with three divisions. There will be 360 students competing at the meet, the best six in each of the 16 events from each division. This is a huge undertaking. During the two days, there are four preliminary rounds in each event qualifying half of the students for semifinals; and eight in each event for finals to determine that state champions. The Glasgow High School Speech & Drama Team traveled to Billings Saturday to compete at the Billings Central Invitational Meet. Twenty-six schools competed at this meet, including two AA – Billings West and Bozeman. There were over 270 kids participating. The Glasgow team came home with the third place Class B Drama trophy. On Saturday, Nov. 23, the Glasgow High School Speech and Drama team competed in the Roundup B & C Invitational against 13 other teams. It is not often that Glasgow is able to compete against southern teams such as Sweetgrass, Columbus and White Sulfur Springs. The next time Glasgow will see these teams will be at the State B competition early in 2014, which is being hosted in Glasgow. The team brought home the third-place trophy for Drama. The Glasgow High School Speech & Drama Team competed Saturday at the Circle Invitational Meet. Sixteen schools competed at this meet; eight of them were Class B schools, three Class A and five Class C. The Glasgow team again came home with the Class B Drama trophy, earning 50 points while their closest rival, Plentywood, earned 25 and Huntley Project had 24 points.
