The catch of the day is worth $2,000 this weekend. That's what the winner gets Saturday at the 18th annual Ice Fishing Derby at Dredge Cuts Pond in Fort Peck. Last year David Combs took home the cold hard cash. The tournament runs from noon to 3 p.m. Registration on site is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., but you can sign up before that by contacting the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture. The Scottie girls (4-4, 6-10) occupy fourth place in District 2B before closing their regular season with home games against Poplar (0-8, 5-11) on Friday and Wolf Point (6-2, 12-4) on Saturday. The Eastern B-C Divisional awaits on Saturday in Shepherd. It's the ultimate measuring stick so far to see how far the reinvigorated Scottie mat program has come this season. The Glasgow Scotties boys basketball team, ranked No. 2 statewide in Class B, rides two dominating home wins last week into conference action this week against Harlem on Friday and Plentywood on Saturday. Scottie up! After last weekend's rugged Cowboy Invitational at Miles City, Glasgow's wrestling team heads west this weekend. The Chinook Mixer comes Friday and the Harlem Invitational on Saturday. A three-game win streak helped lift the girls basketball Scotties (3-2, 4-6) into third place in District 2B, but the run ended last Saturday in Wolf Point.
