    The North Country boys basketball team lost a tight game53-30, to the Coyotes in Dodson on Thursday before rebounding Friday night to defeat the Nashua Porcupines 50-29 in Whitewater. Saturday, the Mavericks hosted the Glasgow Scotties in Saco where the visitors went on to win 45-29. North Country came out firing in Dodson, running up a 19-7 lead in the first quarter.     The Glasgow Scottie Speech and Drama team saw over half of their members make the finals at the State Meet in Huntley Project this past weekend and placed five in the top eight. As a team, they placed fourth in Speech Sweeps. Fynn Sukut made finals in Impromptu and finished in fourth place overall.     Nashua’s girls basketball team fell to a tough North Country team in Whitewater, 50-8, on Friday before rebounding to defeat the Coyotes, 56-60, in Dodson on Saturday. North Country ran away with the Friday night game, shutting out Nashua in the first half while putting up 19 points in the first and 11 in the second quarter.     Nashua’s boys basketball team showed some offensive prowess this past weekend but still found themselves behind two conference rivals when the final buzzers sounded. The Porcupines fell to the Mavericks 50-29 in Whitewater on Friday where a strong fourth quarter was not enough to cut the deficit.     The Lustre Christian girls basketball team lost two games and a key starter this past week. Last Tuesday, Jan. 25, the Lions were in Scobey where they lost starter Alexa Reddig to a broken collarbone in the first quarter and lost the game to the Spartans 56-16. Friday night they lost 60-24 to the Bulldogs in Bainville. Lustre Christian held close with Scobey in the first, trailing 14-10 after eight minutes, but fell behind 28-12 by halftime.     The Lustre Christian boys basketball team added another two wins to their perfect record this past week. Tuesday, Jan. 25, they traveled to Scobey where they defeated the Spartans 54-45. Saturday the Lions rolled over the Bulldogs 57-47 in Bainville. Lustre Christian took a 13-10 lead after one in Scobey and increased their lead to 27-21 at the half.
