The Glasgow Scotty Wrestlers traveled to Sidney last weekend for the Sidney Invitational and ended up placing 15th overall. The U14 girls and the U19 girls headed across the border this past weekend for a busy two days on the ice. The U19 girls have a roster heavy with solid experienced players. The Glasgow Soroptimists, along with Pacific Steel and Recycling and the Glasgow High School Student Council, will be collecting funds for the annual Block of Bucks Friday, Dec. 4, 2015. The annual program provides clothing for Valley County children from infant to 12 years of age. I mistakenly read Virgil Vaupel’s “column” in last week’s paper. At first, I only read about a third of it. I stopped reading because, to put it mildly, it made me angry. Wyatt Mattfeldt has been playing hockey since he was three years old. Ultimately, he'd like to go on to play at the college level, and he's already two-thirds of the way to his goal. The Festival of Trees is a fundraising event for the Relay for Life, and is essentially an "easy button" for those looking to avoid the stress of the holidays. The first competitive event for the Ice Dawg Squirt's 2015-2016 season was held this last weekend at the Valley Event Center. Teams from Great Falls and Missoula traveled here to participate in the jamboree. The puck dropped for first game on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. against Great Falls. It's been 12 years since Tucker Dees won his first fight against cancer. Now he's in the fight for round two. Dees was born in Glasgow in 1996 and was first diagnosed with cancer in 2003 at the age of six. At that time, he had to fight off three brain tumors, but he didn't have to fight alone. The Pink Tractor project was started two years ago by Northwest Farm Credit employees who volunteered 100 percent of the efforts with the sole purpose of raising awareness and money for cancer research for the communities and people whom it serves. A local family is asking for help after tragedy struck miles away in Houston, Texas. On Aug. 8, Valerie Jackson, Dwayne Jackson Sr. and their six children were shot to death in their home.
