The Glasgow Scottie wrestlers did not disappoint at the state wrestling meet in Billings this past weekend. With just four wrestlers on the mat for Glasgow High School, the team placed 7th out of 45 total schools. In addition, all four who advanced to state placed in their weight class and each of them earned All-State honors. Traveling to Malta Thursday night, the Lady Scotties faced Malta for the second time this season and recorded their second loss to the rival M-Ettes. Kim Girard has been skating almost as long as she's been walking. She was born to a pair of professional skaters who taught skating and ice dancing, and began skating herself when she was two-and-a-half years old. The Glasgow School Board held a meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 3 for a board work session, and to address an agenda item from a previous meeting held Jan. 20. The meeting began with discussion of language arts curriculums presented to Superintendent Bob Connors and the Trustees. This week, at my request, the Glasgow Courier is honoring Chinook’s Jesse Dannels as Athlete of the Week. Jesse was killed in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday. As many of you know, when your child is involved in sports for any length of time, that sport and its participants become family. Jesse had a huge family. On Monday, Feb. 1, at about 9:30 a.m., Poplar resident Robert Todd Pinkerton Jr. was fatally stabbed once in the chest by an unidentified female. The female turned herself into police shortly after the incident and was placed into tribal custody. Glasgow Speech and Drama attended the Eastern B/C Divisional Tournament in Roundup this past weekend, qualifying 7 out of 10 team members for the state meet this weekend. The family of the late Glenn Elletson, a dedicated Scottie fan, has provided new signs in his memory for the designated parking area at Glasgow High School.
