There will be a beginning band display in the middle school music room on Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m., for any students interested in doing sixth grade beginning band in the fall. Due to a threat of severe weather on May 31, the National Weather Service in Glasgow, in conjunction with Valley County Disaster and Emergency Services, has rescheduled the free Skywarn weather spotter training course to Wednesday, June 6, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the new STAT Air hangar at the airport in Glasgow. The Valley County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind drivers using Hwy 117, between Nashua and Fort Peck, that they are required to follow posted instructions about pilot cars through areas currently under construction. On Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4, the Glasgow Police Department and the Valley Veterinary Clinic will be hosting the annual program for animal licensing and administration of rabies shots at the South Side Fire Hall. The hours of the program are Friday, June 3 from 6-7 p.m. and Saturday, June 4 from 10-11 a.m. The cost for a license is $5 for a neutered or spayed animal and $20 for a non-spayed or neutered animal. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks in Glasgow is conducting a pilot project to open Block Management Areas (BMAs) for spring turkey hunting along the Milk River. Up to 9 BMAs could be open for the spring turkey season, beginning April 11, and running through May 17. Most of the properties are located along the Milk River between Hinsdale and Nashua. Warmer temperatures and melted ice mean the annual walleye spawning operation on Fort Peck Reservoir is beginning early this year and will soon be in full swing. Volunteers are always welcome, and needed, for the success of this operation. The Glasgow Area Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture held its 18th annual Ice Fishing Derby last Saturday at the Dredge Cuts Trout Pond at Fort Peck Lake.
