The Opheim FFA chapter recently wrapped up its 92nd Montana FFA State convention in Bozeman. The chapter competed in five competitions all together; Ag Sales, Agronomy, Extemporaneous Speaking, Mechanics, and Prepared Speaking. The Sales team this year was Cole Taylor, Carrie Taylor, Mandy Furhmann and Zach Fauth. Individually, the top two placings were taken by Cole Taylor (second) and Carrie Taylor (43rd). What’s better than 1st place? First place in two events. The Opheim FFA traveled to Bainville for a Varsity Floriculture and Varsity Sales competition on the 14th of December. The Floriculture team consisted of Mandy Fuhrmann, Zach Fauth, Cole Taylor, and Carrie Taylor. Last year, the Floriculture team was also in Culbertson and they took 6th place.This year’s Ag Sales team included Cole Taylor, Zach Fauth, Damian Cable, and Mandy Fuhrmann. Many people think there are fewer opportunities in small schools. They might be right for some schools, but in Opheim, there seems to be plenty to do. Between basketball, BPA, honor concerts and FFA, sometimes it is hard to find any students left in the building. Such was the case when the FFA chapter traveled to Sidney for a Floriculture and Mechanics competition on Jan. 21.
