A Dec. 18 bond vote count after a mail election brought a narrow win for facility improvements at Frazer High School and a larger win for Frazer Elementary School. Both bonds passing will raise nearly $1.5 million to repair, restore and replace certain facilities. Voters registered in Frazer School District 2 in Valley County mailed out their ballots from Dec. 2 to 17. There were 181 ballots sent in. Officials have called off the search for the plane that went missing Dec. 1 in Valley County, Idaho, but families of those on board are continuing with the effort despite fears that Sheree Chalmers Smith of Glasgow, her husband Daniel Smith, and three others lost their lives when the plane crashed. A new addition has been welcomed at the Valley County Sheriff's Office in Glasgow. Deputy Christopher Richter began work for the county on Monday, Dec. 16. County commissioners approved his employment at their meeting that took place on Tuesday, Dec. 17. Appointments for the Glasgow Levee Safety Committee were finalized at the last city council meeting, and in the same week a local Glasgow rancher was reappointed to the state Private Land Public Wildlife Advisory Council (PLPWAC). Gov. Steve Bullock announced that Jack Billingsley would be appointed to the PLPWAC. His qualifications listed being that he’s a rancher in Valley County. Search and rescue workers have been looking through rugged Idaho terrain for a lost plane just outside of Cascade, Idaho. The plane was carrying two residents of Glasgow and three members of their family. Wooden poles for streetlights and phone lines were a common practice in the years past. Today new poles made of fiberglass and steel stand through the weather and winds and are used more frequently. NorthWestern Energy has begun to replace 74 streetlight poles in Glasgow. Protecting the local community comes with risks and dangers. A grant the city of Glasgow received will help pay for extra protection for law enforcement. The City Council adopted a resolution on Monday, Nov. 18, that allowed them to accept a grant, just more than $700 that will be used to buy new bullet proof vests. Glasgow City Clerk and Treasurer Stacey Amundson explained that the grant wasn’t in the current budget for the year. Sunday night went out with a bang for the Valley County Sheriff’s Office. What started as a vehicle doing donuts in a yard turned into a 45-minute high speed chase. Nicholas Davis and Austine Beil, both of Hinsdale, were both arrested on multiple charges. One of the hottest topics at the Glasgow City Council meeting had council members and the mayor trying to figure out how to handle higher waters. At least half a dozen burglaries have taken place in Valley County and Glasgow over the last few weeks. At Monday’s City Council meeting ,Lt. Trint Gamas said that investigators had one possible suspect in custody – but there may be another. “We just need to remind people to lock their doors on their car doors and their houses,” Gamas said during the council meeting.
