The Glasgow City Council voted in a split decision to raise tax revenues for the city by a total of roughly $49,000. The move is likely to raise taxes next year for most Glasgow residents and businesses. Nemont Manor’s new ownership, Affiliated Developers Inc., has told the Courier that they are struggling to acquire the necessary Housing and Urban Development (HUD) loans and grants required to complete their planned $4.6 million renovation of the building. The announcement comes just over a year after the property was sold to Affiliated Developers in July 2018. The Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center (EMCMHC), based in Miles City, has announced they are partnering with Rimrock in Billings, to provide enhanced addiction and mental illness treatment in eastern Montana. The Scottie boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Billings for the Billings Invitational on Aug. 30. The meet marked the opening competition for the Scotties with the boys placing 16 overall for varsity and 14 overall for JV. The girls varsity ran only three competitors and did not receive a team score, but the JV girls came in at 13 overall. A single vehicle rollover occurred on the evening of Monday, Aug. 19, in northern Valley County. According to reports from the Montana Highway Patrol, the driver was traveling on Highway 24 near mile marker 12 when they drifted off the road. Sgt. Jeff Kent, the supervisor for the Montana Highway Patrol in Wolf Point, said the driver then over corrected four separate times before the vehicle overturned and rolled multiple times. Last year the Scottie Wrestling Camp set a new record, they reached a total attendance of nearly 120 wrestlers. This year from Aug. 5 through 7, 2019, the camp drew numbers in that same arena coming in at 119 wrestlers in attendance. The success of the camp is its draw for elite level wrestlers. The Glasgow-Fort Peck Chapter of Montana Walleye's Unlimited hosted their 19th Annual Women's Fishing Tournament this past weekend July 19 and 20 at Fort Peck Reservoir. The Glasgow Thunder Kiwanis Swim Team placed fourth in a pool of 10 teams at the regular season meet in Glendive this past weekend July 20 and 21. In all the Thunder brought along a total of 25 swimmers to the meet capping off the regular season. Next week the team will send 32 swimmers to Scobey for the divisional meet. It was early Friday morning, July 12, and 200 boats had filled the waters of the Fort Peck Marina waiting for their wave to get flagged out.
