Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital is reporting that they have conducted 30 tests at their facility since testing for the COVID-19 disease became available in early March. Those numbers do not reflect the total number of Valley County residents that have been tested since some people may come from other areas and some residents may have been tested outside of Valley County. TC Energy has confirmed their plans to move forward with construction of the Keystone XL pipeline in Phillips and Valley counties during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Valley County Detention Center will not release any current inmates, according to Valley County Sheriff Tom Boyer. The decision comes from Justice of the Peace Christina Hillman and follows a Montana Supreme Court guidance signed by Chief Justice Mike McGrath on March 20 to review prison rosters and release nonviolent offenders without bond. A Valley County man was arrested the evening of March 8 after leading the Valley County Sheriff on a pursuit following an attempted stop for driving under the influence of alcohol. The rape trial of disgraced ex-Valley County Undersheriff Luke Strommen has been delayed after the judge in the case granted the defense a continuance for an unknown period of time. March weather conditions started off with warm above freezing temperatures, leading to snow and ice in the region to melt off, which caused minor flooding in low lying areas in Valley County. A northeast Montana man was sentenced Feb. 28 in District Court to 100 years in prison with 60 suspended for the crime of incest. He will also be required to register as a level two sex offender, complete sex offender treatment and will not be eligible for parole for 10 years.
