Nashua girls lose two, look to games against Saco, Hinsdale

The Nashua girls basketball team was mired in a scoring slump this weekend, losing to Fairview and Culbertson.

Playing against Fairview in Saco, the first half started off rough for the Lady Porcupines. The Lady Warrior defense did a good job of containing the big scorers, seniors Jana Tihista and Kass Sibley, and jumped out to a 27-11 lead at the break.

The game didn't get much better for Nashua in the second half. As the Lady Porcupines tried to force the ball down the court to get back into the game, the mistakes picked up and the girls began to turn the ball over. They only scored 10 more points in the game and were unable to stop the more experienced Lady Warriors, losing the game 61-21.

On Saturday, the girls headed to Culbertson to play the Cowgirls in a road game. The Lady Porcupines again got off to a bad start falling behind 17-2 in the first quarter.

They got more production in the second, scoring 10 points as a team, but still were unable to slow down Culbertson, who scored 12 to enter the half with a 29-12 lead.

The story was more of the same in the second half as Culbertson outscored Nashua 20-12 to take the 49-24 victory.

The Lady Porcupines will have a chance to get back in the win column this weekend when they take on Hinsdale and Saco/Whitewater this weekend.
The Lady Raiders are now 0-2 on the season and will be hosting their first game since the tragedy this weekend. Saco/Whitewater, this season's favorite to win the district, will be coming to Nashua.
